Mid Century Bonanza

This week was a great one for us since we got calls from two homes loaded with mid century modern furniture and decor. The first one is in Long Island and we began to bring the great items to our shop. There is so much stuff that we have to make a few trips there to make sure we get all the items. We will be busy at that location next week so there will be a lot more pictures coming soon. House number two is also loaded with mid century modern gems and we began bringing the items to the shop on Thursday. We will be returning next week as well since we will be getting 5 cado systems and bringing them to the shop by the end of the week. We will also be bringing in some very unique retro items from this home as well.

We also squeezed in a pick up of amazing solid teak and fruitwood modern minimalist desks which have proven to be very popular due to their great look and great low price of $150 each. If you like these guys, you should grab them while they last. These are quality desks in 36″&42″ wide sizes.

We were called this week to an unusual jobsite. We were tol

d that this apartment complex has not had people living there for over 20 years. Off we went to explore this 16 apartment complex. Each apartment was loaded with stuff. It appears that many of the apartments were occupied by family members over the years, so they just used the apartments as storage units.

We found so many interesting items over the 4 days we spent hunting for interesting items. Each apartment was packed with random items. We are still unpacking some of the treasures we found. The owner of the building was a wood worker so we got tons of tools and many unusual items. We even found a 1944 Harley Davidson bike which the owner plans on donating to the Harley museum.

Friday morning was a major score as we purchased 4 mid century modern credenzas from a dealer that closed down in long island city.

The Mid Century Modern Madness Continues

Hey mid century modern lovers. We went hunting for mid century modern furniture this week and we were succesful indeed.

Monday morning, we purchased some real nice pieces from a retiring doctor and his wife who were moving overseas and they can’t take all their furniture with them. We purchased a stunning “Century” mid century modern credenza with wrought iron legs and 2 lovely wrought iron and walnut book shelves as well as a nice Paul Mccobb coffee table, a fiberglass Herman miller type shell chair and some nice mid century glassware still in the box. The doctor had a huge collection of elephants made out of wood, ivory, stone and other natural materials…… but unfortunately he didn’t want to sell any of those items. When we arrived to unload the truck a gentleman in a suv passed by and said he had to have the shelving unit i was unloading. So sorry folks, the bookshelf is gone already.

Tuesday, we received a call from a couple moving to florida from the upper east side. The views from the apartment were amazing and I wanted to stay there for hours to enjoy the view, but off to work we went wrapping up the great mid century modern bedroom set and some really awesome and comfortable parson chairs which are made in the style of Milo Baugham. We also purchased a great teak expandable teak Danish modern Clausen & Sons dining table which expands from 53″x34.5″ to 94″x34.5″ x 28.5″ tall. This table is perfect for those upcoming holiday dinners. We also purchased a matching danish modern Clausen & Sons credenza which would look great in any home.

Tuesday evening, I visited an art studio and purchased two 3’x5′ heavy duty work tables which can be used as solid workbenches or large desks.

It;s Wednesday morning and we are on the road again to bring even more treasures into our overflowing vintage warehouse. Help us make room so that I can feed my addiction and bring even more cool items into the shop.

Mid Century Modern Gems this Week in Brooklyn

We were busy this week getting great mid century modern furniture and more at 2 homes in Brooklyn. One home we worked at is at a dead end in the midwood section of brooklyn overlooking the railroad where freight trains travel thru the boro. This was a real nice experience due to the feeling of being at the edge of a forest with lots of birds and greenery. It is pretty serene as the train only passes thru 2 times a day.

Getting back to the items that we got.

We got 3 real nice mid century modern desks one being a Paul McCobb and 2 other really nice ones. A bunch of mid century modern dressers, side tables and some coffee tables, record storage cabinet, chairs, mirrors, and lighting. We also got a whole bunch of mid century modern Plasson chairs that look really cool, A leather doctors bag, vintage clothing, costume jewelry, perfumes and a great metal barrister bookcase.

This week we went modern furniture crazy.

We brought in so many cool vintage inspired furniture. Here is you opportunity to get great pieces at great prices. We have herman miller style, platner style, Eames and much more. In addition to our signed items by sonneman, herman miller, eames , brown & saltzman and others. We brought in over 200 new items in the past 2 days only. So many great items have come in and will be coming in today.

Today we will be picking up 2 box truck loads of great vintage. I will keep you updated on the latest items as soon as I have pictures. I just hope we have room in the shop.

Some people say that women like to go shopping…. Well I am a man and I love to shop everyday…for vintage that is.

I have been busy this week working my butt off the past 2 days in the rain. I have to tell you it is hard loading up the van in the rain. I usually like to overload the van with stuff attached to the top of the van, but I cant do that in the rain. Thank goodness the rain is gone, so I can load up today with lots of great stuff. Our bushwick location is packed with great items and today we will be loading up our thrift store located at 1158 flatbush avenue in ditmas park with lots of nice stuff. For those of you who havnt visited our thrift store recently, we have been reorganizing it and it is a much better shopping experience than it has been in the past. The hours for our flatbush avenue location is Sunday 12-7pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 11-7:30pm, Friday 11-4pm.

We got in some really nice items this week and a pair of tall oak cabinets which we removed from a warehouse in Brooklyn. We are offering $75 in merchandise to the first 2 people who guess what these cabinets were used for.   • There are 2 cabinets made of oak
  • They are around 8′ tall

We go searching around town and out of town for items our customers appreciate. We listen to our customers and seek out the items that you are looking for.

This week Elliot worked from morning till evening filling up our vintage warehouse with great vintage finds. He loaded up his van 12 times and made multiple trips to the shop each day. There was not enough space for each trip to fit the items inside the van, so he had to load the top of the van as well. He got lots of stares from people on the street as some of the loads looked like they were going to fall off his truck. I am happy to announce that everything arrived in one piece and nothing fell off the van.
